History of English Language Learner
Public schools have been (and are becoming) more diverse. Reflected in such diversity is the number of English Language Learners (ELLs) who enter public schools to learn. Research statistics (NCES, 2012) show that 5.3 million public school children are ELLs (of which 85% were born in the United States).
