                        Conceptual Framework

The conceptual framework for these professional development session is grounded in academic enlightenment of language variation, language acquisition, bilingual education, English language learning, and equity and diversity pedagogies. The course emphasizes critical perspectives on language and language acquisition. Specifically, these sessions are grounded in critical race, sociopolitical, and sociocultural perspectives to aid practicing K-12 educators in understanding the importance of acknowledging and validating linguistic pluralism and how such understanding can impact English language teaching and learning. Practicing educators will gain and develop an array of strategies that will aid them in the equitable language teaching and learning. Below is a conceptual map that clearly delineates these conceptual ideas.
